The Orpington Duck, was first bred by William Cook in Kent, who was also the creator of the chicken of the same name. These energetic and alert ducks have an upright carriage with a long, deep body. They rarely fly, enjoy swimming and are excellent foragers.
Orpington Duck, taking a snooze: For exhibition purposes this duck should have an even buff shade with brown eyes and orange legs. The drake's head should and neck should be brown and glossy.
The Orpington is a good layer and with a drake weighing between 5 and 7.5 lb (duck 5 - 7lb), it also makes a suitable table bird.
